Annotation

The footnotes will address the imponderables in interpreting some cryptic Icelandic lines. Other comments refer to Nordic folklore elements as added by Ásmundsson, or deal with the Icelandic plot, which – like Dracula itself – has its occasional obscurities and inconsistencies. A last category of footnotes highlights the similarities and deviations with regard to Stoker’s original novel, or explains some of its background – without the ambition, however, to create a new “annotated Dracula”.
